Commissions

Custom faceting

A stone cut for you: from rough you already own, from rough found to your brief, or from a stone that deserves a second life.

What can be commissioned

  • Cutting your rough

Rough you already own, faceted to show it at its best. Each piece is assessed before any cutting begins.

  • Sourcing and cutting

Rough found to your brief, by species, color, size and budget, then cut for you.

  • Re-cutting and repair

Chipped, scratched or poorly proportioned stones, re-polished or re-cut to bring back their light. Some weight is always lost in re-cutting.

  • Cutting for a setting

A stone cut to fit an existing ring or setting, to the measurements given by you or your jeweler.

How a commission works

  1. Write with the details

Describe the stone, the rough or the setting. The form below asks for what helps; photos can follow by email.

  2. Assessment

The rough or the brief is reviewed, and any questions are asked before anything is promised.

  3. Quote

A quote follows, with the proposed design and the timing.

  4. Cutting

The stone is cut and polished to the agreed design.

  5. Delivery

The finished stone is measured and photographed before it is delivered.

Pricing

Every commission is quoted individually once the rough or the brief has been reviewed. The quote reflects the size of the stone, the design and the work involved.

Timing

Most commissions are finished within four to eight weeks, depending on the stone and the queue. The timing is confirmed with each quote.
